BAD AXE – A Bay Port man who admitted to fraudulently collecting unemployment insurance for more than a year and a half will serve 30 days in jail and return $30,494 to the state.

Jeffery Scott Ray Sr. fraudulently collected the benefits between May 30, 2009 and Jan. 8, 2011. During most of that time, he was either working or disabled.

HURON COUNTY - Isabelle Rutkowski, daughter of Tim and Victoria Rutkowski, Ubly, has been hospitalized at the University of Michigan Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor since early March of this year.

She started experiencing seizures at school on Thursday, March 1, 2012.

Sebewaing library to use new system

SEBEWAING - The Sebewaing Township Library announces that it will soon utilize an automated system for checking out items to library patrons. E-books for e-reading devices will be a part of this new upgrade. Patrons will be able to access the library’s collection online, place holds, renew items, and receive notice when reserved items are available.

PORT HOPE - Rose Coulter opened the meeting of the Port Hope Retirees with the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge to the Flag. There were 70 members and two guests present. A moment of silence was observed and a prayer was said in memory of Ed Pochert, a past member and treasurer for many years, who passed away recently.

She was an only child - living in New Zealand - just 6 months younger than me, so I thought I would give it a try! Well, 102 other girls responded to her letter! Academically, Mariah has been on the honor roll and a member of the 3.0 Honors Club each year. This year, she was inducted into the Owen-Gage Chapter of the National Honor Society. Mariah was a member of the E.P.I.C.S. program her sophomore year.
