SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, HURON COUNTY, STATE OF MICHIGAN | The Huron County View huroncountypress SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, HURON COUNTY, STATE OF MICHIGAN The Sheridan Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed township budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019 at the Sheridan Township Hall on March 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. TRUTH & TAXATION CL 211.24 requires a public hearing on any township- wide increase in property tax revenues caused by increases in property values over the previous year, not counting new construction. The notice must be published 6 days before the hearing and the hearing may be concurrent with the budget hearing. The notice must be sent to all newspapers, although it only need be published in one. The increase resolution cannot be adopted until 7 days after the public hearing. The statute does not apply if the millage rate for the previous year was 1 mill or less. * “The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing.” The Sheridan Township board will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting upon 10 days’ notice to the Sheridan Township board.
