Suspect arrested in Huron Twp. assault

BY CHRIS OGRYSKI EDITOR

HURON TOWNSHIP – Huron County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched Saturday morning to investigate a possible assault with a gun on Stoddard Rd.

According to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, Casey and Tina Jahn were working lime and manure into a field near their residence when a neighbor, who was shooting a shotgun on his own property, turned and pointed the gun at them. Hanson explained the Jahns and the neighbor have been in an ongoing dispute over manure being placed in that particular field.

The Jahns left the field and called 9-1-1; Sgt. James Hunt and Dep. Brandon Kadar were dispatched to the scene.

Reports indicate the 45 year old suspect continued to fire his weapon on his own property, even when deputies were discussing the situation with the Jahns. Deputies confronted the suspect at his residence, but he would not cooperate.

At that point, the deputies decided to arrest the suspect for felonious assault, but needed to use a taser to complete the arrest.

The suspect's name is being withheld at this time pending arraignment. The incident will remain under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
