Sally E. Taschner

1911-2009

Sally Ezar Taschner, 98, Sebewaing, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

She was born July 24, 1911 in Fagan, Ky. at the home of her parents, James Harvey and Nancy Ann (Pitts) Jones. On December 21, 1940 she was united in marriage to Frank Taschner at the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church rectory in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1990.

Sally was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. She enjoyed sewing and made several hundred quilts, and loved her flowers and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Johnny (Peggy) Taschner, Sebewaing, Nancy Schuette, Pigeon, Donald Taschner, St. Petersberg, Fla., Robert (Mary) Taschner, Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, Pearl Fitzpatrick, Kewanee, Ill., Julia (Ed) Crawford, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Lucy Taschner, Traverse City; son-in-law, Pete Merchberger, Barbeau; two sisters, Sadie Embs, Stanton, Ky. and Jenny Fultz, Fort Thomas, K.; brother, Paul Jones, Ala.; brother-in-law, Robert Fultz, Fort Thomas, Ky.; grandchildren, Carrie, Alva, Benita, Danette, Cheryl, Eric, Roger, Suzanne, Tim, Jim, John, Jolene, Dawn, Angelina, Tony, Christopher, Domenica, Randi, Jessica, Nathan and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Lynnette, Adam, Samantha, Karl, Brian, Thomas, Victoria, Kassidy, Nicholas, Nykole, Jazmyn, Noah, Andrew, Konner, Kyler, Tearesa-Lynn, Ronin, Sara, Ciarra, and Lauren; great-great-granddaughter, Maraya and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Maebelle Merchberger; son, Frank Taschner Jr.; son-in-law, Elmer Schuette; grandsons, Robin and Stephen Taschner; great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Fitzpatrick; sisters, Lula Pitts, Alpha Bond, Mary Wright, Ruth Fultz and brothers, Ancil and Walter Jones.

Mass of Christian burial took place on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Fr. John Weiss officiated with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Holy Family Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.

Arrangements were handled by the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home, Sebewaing.
