It’s September again . . . Dear Editor:It’s September again . . . Approximately thirty thousand children and adults in this country have cystic fibrosis – a genetic disease that causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus, which clogs the lungs, leading to infections, and also obstructs the pancreas, inhibiting proper digestion of food. It’s September again . . . CF occurs in approximately one of every 3,000 live births. One in 29 Americans is an unknowing, symptomless carrier. It’s September again . . . Volunteers throughout Pigeon are mobilizing to help in the battle against cystic fibrosis. We urge all members of our community to join together and support us as we began our Door-to-Door Campaign on Sept. 8. Debbie Gorsegner Campaign Coordinator |
