Caseville American Legion Auxiliary news

SUBMITTED BY ELEEN TAIT CO-SECRETARY

Vice President Beverly Simmons conducted the December meeting to be sure she would know what to do "in case" President Kathy Henderson cannot be there someday.

This was the last meeting for this year. There will be a special meeting for those getting new drill team shirts, when samples come in.

The next regular meeting is the first Wednesday of April but annual reports need to be compiled, written up and sent into all the various 7th District Chairmen by the middle of March. The accomplishments of each member, what was done for the veterans, community, schools, kids, Americanism, seniors, funeral dinners, all they volunteered for and donations of time and money and questions need to be given to Eleen by the first of March.

Co-Secretary Eleen Tait read Amelia Ernat's November minutes. Treasurer Terry Blair gave her report. Close to $2,000 was spent last month.

Donations were sent to The Saginaw and Battle Creek VA Hospitals, Caseville Food Pantry, Caseville Christmas Community Christmas Fund, Inter-Faith-Clothe-A-Child, Detroit Children's Hospital, Chapel of Four Chaplains, 1,000-minute phone cards for our servicemen, postage for the 14 big cartons to those we have names and addresses for.

Christmas cards will soon be made out to put the phone cards in. We have 22 names but only 15 addresses. Would sure like to have the names and addresses for all those serving from the NW comer of Huron County. Call 856-2631 to make sure we have your son's, please.

Many thanks to all who donated during the year toward the boxes we sent. A big thank you to The Caseville Food Pride Store and other businesses that collected or donated items for us. The men will have enough to share with buddies. They can each have their own lip balm, for instance.

We ran out of poppies last year so it was decided to order 2,000 for May when we will again offer them in Caseville and the Sand Point Corner for those wishing to help our servicemen and veterans. That is all those donations can be used for.

As you can see, the funds were well spent, that could be taken from this fund. The rest comes from our two bingos we hold each year, the last Saturday of July and August.

Rick Landry brought us copies with the names, addresses & most phone numbers of all the Caseville American Legion and Auxiliary members. He handed them out the day before to the men at their meeting. Rick worked on this project for a while and printed them up. Nice job! Thanks.
