Donna (Madonna) L. Soper

Donna (Madonna) Louise Soper, 62, Fishers, Ind., formerly of Huron County, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in Indiana.

She was born on May 29, 1947, to the late Casimer and Anna (Horwat) Borowski.

She received her BA from Loyola University, Chicago and her MA in education from San Diego State University. She worked as a high school teacher, a lingerie supervisor at a department store, but mostly as a homemaker and a mom.

Donna was actively involved in the Laker Band Boosters in the mid 1980s. She was affectionately known as “Mom” to all the band members.

She was also the Director of Religious Education at St. Felix Catholic Church.

She and her husband, Richard, moved to Indianapolis in 1989, but always retained ties to the Thumb area.

Donna volunteered often and worked with those in need, most recently at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry in Indianapolis. She always thought of others first and was quick with a kind word or gesture.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Soper; two sons, Daniel (Leslie) and David (Shari); four grandchildren, Bianca, Oliver, Devin and Delaney and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanore and her brother, William.

Services were held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Burial took place in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by the Kaufman Funeral Home, Bad Axe.
