Caseville Retirement Club celebrates anniversary

By Club Historian Eleen Tait

CASEVILLE — We celebrated our Anniversary with a catered meal. The only catered meal we have during the year. We only had six Past Presidents to honor this year at this dinner. Sue Reynolds, Connie Wooster, Andy Lakatos, Margaret Szumlinski, Chuck Berry and Nancy Brown.

The Advisory Board left it up to Margaret Ski to select the menu for us and she did a swell job. Of course, everything McDonald's caters is good but for a change we enjoyed meatballs in mushroom sauce, mostaccioli, mashed potatoes and gravy, potato salad, green bean casserole, broccoliraisin salad, jello salad, rolls, lemon bars and a pan of half blue berry and half cherry cheesecake. Everyone could take home any of the left overs but there was still so much left over. We want to thank Marge Ski and also Nancy Brown who was able to get gifts for the drawings.

Folks who are over 60 are most wel- come to join us. This is an open invitation to come and enjoy your neighbors and make new friends. We play cards and games, when someone brings some, starting at 8:30 or when ever someone is there to play with. We eat about noon, have a meeting and either play tournament euchre or bingo. Dues are only $7 a year. We sponsor tours to casinos most months and always on Thursdays as that is Senior Day with 4 Drawings of $55 each hour at Soaring Eagle. Some of our members have been lucky there, too. We have first chance to sign up for the trips.

The sheets are out early. We welcomed back a past president who hasn't been able to be with us for some time as well as others who have had to miss our smiling faces. We spent a moment in silence for Eva Bannick who passed away last month. A check was sent to her family as is our custom when a member passes away but we also received a donation in Eva's memory from them. Chris Garari is still at Courtney Manor after his bout with pneumonia. Lois Melson is there after her knee surgery. We were happy to have Joan Lester back after her surgery. Fred Ufford isn't doing well.

Whenever Caseville School is closed or the HDC Meals are closed, so is our doings. Otherwise there is sewing on Monday for when we have the meals and on Thursday there is tournament euchre starting at 9:30. Hope to see more seniors there. We meet at the American Legion Hall on the Caseville Road.
