Elvis show coming to USA
SEBEWAING - It was nearly 30 years when the co-founder of the Michigan Elvis Presley Fan Club graduated from Unionville-Sebewaing Area schools.
A lifelong Elvis fan, Scott Thede founded the club in 2009 with another Elvis fan, his wife, Jennifer.
Together, the two have grown their fan club membership to over 1,000 members in less than two years. On April 23, Thede returns home to bring an Elvis show production to his alma mater.
“We’ve produced many shows since our first one in January of 2010, but this one is special because I can bring something exciting back to my hometown and show people in the Thumb area what a great time Elvis tribute shows are and how strong Elvis’ legacy still is," Scott said.
Jennifer remarked, “Jake is a natural performer who connects wonderfully with the audience. We also have this great band we found in nearby Bay City, the Josh Ramses Band, and a young talent we found in our Big Rapids school system, 12-year-old Emily McDowell. People will be very impressed with the whole show."
Besides hearing some great music, there’s a challenge to the USA middle and high school students: half of the student ticket price will go back to the school. “All Elvis fan clubs recognized by Elvis Presley Enterprises are non-profits, and we love to give back just like Elvis did. Let's get students in the seats and money back in the school. It’s a win-win," the Thedes said. Another incentive is for female students. One lucky girl will be randomly selected and brought on stage to be serenaded by Jake.
Showtime will be 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased through Showclix.com or by calling the ticketing service at 888-718-4253. USA students will receive a special ticket price. Students can purchase their tickets at the principal’s office.
