     HARBOR BEACH — Huron County will be represented by two members of the Greater Thumb Conference East Division in the Michigan High School Athletic Association play-offs for 11-man football and another in Eight Man, following the announcement of post season pairings last weekend.

     North Huron tossed their hat into the ring for teams having their own volleyball tournaments, hosting their event last weekend. Joining the host Warriors were Caseville, Harbor Beach and Owen-Gage. NCTL North Division champion Caseville proved to their opponents they were worthy of their fine record, sweeping through the tourney to claim the championship title.

Pirates score shutout win
     SEBEWAING - Heading into this gridiron season, the Harbor Beach football squad liked their chances, but knew they were up against some tough competition. While the prediction of a tough league race in the GTC-East proved to be true - with five teams battling for top honors - it was the Pirates who came out on top and they did it in a big way.

     GTC - The Bad Axe Hatchets' soccer team has picked a good time to hit a winning streak. After coming up short in their bid to win the Greater Thumb Conference, BA pulled out a Division 3 district championship win over Caro last Saturday to keep their season alive.

What was a whale of a football game came down to a 44-yard long heave by Kirk Cousins. The bombs-away toss landed in Keith Nichols’ hands and video replay confirmed he crossed the goal line.
