Glasgow “This is a great opportunity for local Christian teens to share their faith with others in our community,” said Todd Cramer, Youth for Christ executive director. “It’s exciting to see students use their gifts to glorify God and point others to Him. We are thankful for Josh’s leadership and the great team of volunteers he has assembled to work with students who are passionate about their faith.”
Students who want to join must be committed to Jesus and be willing to put in the time needed to be part of the group, Hill said.
“We welcome students based more on commitment and attitude than ability,” he said.
“There are certain positions within the group that require auditions. These include the various band positions as well as vocal solos on certain songs,” he added.
Music ministry has been a key aspect of Bluewater Thumb YFC’s ministry for over 40 years with groups such as Cornerstone, New Covenant, and Red Letter Edition, all composed of students from the Thumb area. REMIX is a new group that has been practicing since October for their February and March concert schedule.
REMIX recently played shows at both Bad Axe Free Methodist and Bad Axe First Baptist churches. They play contemporary Christian music, from the pop and rock genres. Some bands/songs they cover include Switchfoot- The War Inside; Tenth Avenue North- You Are More; MercyMe- Move; Newsboys- One Shot; Natalie Grant- Your Great Name; Deluge- Open Up the Sky and The Afters- We Won’t Give Up.
So far, local churches have been very supportive of the group and churchgoers have been very receptive to the music, the mission and the message of REMIX. Hill says “my goal for the group is for all of us to develop a powerful relationship with God that not only changes our own lives but also impacts those around us in a positive way”. The members enjoy making new friends and the ability to share their love of the Lord with others.
