Rodger Booth, artist/owner of Booth's Assassin Tattoos, will attempt to break the world's record for tattooing multiple people for a total of 50 hours straight.
The current record, Booth said, is 30 hours. He said he's up for the challenge.
"After the first 30 hours, it will probably start getting difficult," he said.
According to Guinness World Records rules, Booth will be allowed occasional short breaks, but he will not be allowed to sleep.
Booth is asking for a donation of at least $20 for each appointment, and he said he will give 100 percent of the money to the Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Huron County.
The record attempt will get under way at noon Feb. 24 at Assassin Tattoos, located at 47 Westland Drive in Bad Axe. If he's successful, his tattoo gun will buzz until 2 p.m. Feb. 26.
Jennifer Booth, Rodger's wife and coowner of the tattoo shop, said there are still spots available for those who want to participate. She said tattoos must be at least four by six inches. A tattoo that size, she said, normally costs $80 to $150, so participants will get a great deal while donating to a good cause.
The Booths are asking other area businesses to donate cash or items to help cover the cost of the event, including possibly hiring a judge from Guinness World Record to document the record attempt.
Jennifer Booth said if a judge is on scene, he will authenticate the record immediately. If the Booths cannot afford the judge, they will have to video the attempt and fill out a lot of paperwork.
Jennifer Booth said any cash donations from businesses that are not used to offset expenses will be donated to the C/AN Council.
Besides cash, the Booths are asking for donations of snacks, soda, bottled water and paper towels.
Rodger Booth said Red Bull is donating beverages to help him stay alert.
