BAD AXE - The Huron County Sheriff's Office and Bad Axe Police served two simultaneous warrants just before 5 p.m. Friday on a Bad Axe home and at Maple Lane Discount as part of an investigation on suspected drug activity.

Huron County Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson said an arrest was made minutes before the search warrants were served, but he is not yet able to release the name of the person arrested.

The home, located at 1030 Beech St., is occupied by Robert. D. Alent and Joy E. Alent, according to public information. Robert Alent is the owner of Maple Lane Discount, located at located at 950 North Van Dyke Road in Verona Township.

This is the second time this year police have served a warrant at Maple Lane. On March 30, local police assisted the Huron County Health Department as it issued an imminent danger order and seized the store's entire stock of batSheriff Kelly J. The Bad Axe Fire Department has been called to the Beech Street house because possible hazardous substances were found when police entered the home.

Additionally, Hanson has requested the assistance of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
