Search warrants served at Maple Lane, Bad Axe home
Maple Lane Discount was searched by police Friday afternoon. UPDATE: Robert David Alent, 47, of Bad Axe was arraigned Monday afternoon in Huron County District Court on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Huron County Jail on a bond of $100,000 cash. See Thursday's Huron County VIEW for details.
BAD AXE - The Huron County Sheriff's Office and Bad Axe Police served two simultaneous warrants just before 5 p.m. Friday on a Bad Axe home and at Maple Lane Discount as part of an investigation on suspected drug activity.
Huron County Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson said an arrest was made minutes before the search warrants were served, but he is not yet able to release the name of the person arrested.
The home, located at 1030 Beech St., is occupied by Robert. D. Alent and Joy E. Alent, according to public information. Robert Alent is the owner of Maple Lane Discount, located at located at 950 North Van Dyke Road in Verona Township.

A new Michigan law passed in July made the sale of bath salts illegal. Since that law passed, Hanson said, his department has been working hand-in-hand with Bad Axe Police to investigate suspected continued drug activity at Maple Lane.
The Bad Axe Fire Department has been called to the Beech Street house because possible hazardous substances were found when police entered the home.
Additionally, Hanson has requested the assistance of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
