Jeep films in Port Austin

PORT AUSTIN — A crew was in Port Austin recently filming to commemorate Jeep’s 75th anniversary, according to Greater Port Austin Area Chamber of Commerce Director Joyce Stanek. It involved filming in various places in the county including downtown Port Austin in front of The Bank 1884 and at Lighthouse County Park, she also said. The crew brought seven vintage Jeeps, including a 1945 model - one for each of seven decades represented. The film crew took photos of the vintage Jeeps in different locations, such as in front of a barn, a farmhouse or a lighthouse. Jeep plans a series of commercial ads to celebrate Jeep’s 75 years, Stanek explained. While the film crew got busy with their cameras, local residents got busy with theirs, including Donna McCatty, Cheryl Koth and Kelly Szymanski.
