Spelling Bee state finalists



HARBOR BEACH — Two Harbor Beach Our Lady of Lake Huron students Savana Roggenbuck and Makara Kramer, have qualified as state finalists in the annual Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee. To qualify, each won the citywide Spelling Bee conducted at Harbor Beach Community School on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, and had to finish first or second at the diocesan contest conducted in Hemlock on Sunday, Feb. 12. Savana’s competition lasted three hours where she and the eventual runner-up spent one and one-half hours contesting before she finally won.
