Where’s the VIEW?

BAD AXE — The new DTE Energy Discovery Center, located at 1000 S. Van Dyke Road, features a display showing the progression of windmills and wind turbines throughout history. Pictured left, the postmill was used from the 1100s to the 1800s A.D. in Northern Europe to grind grain, crush oilseeds and pump water. Pictured right, the larger towermill was used from the 1300s to the 1900s in Europe. According to the display, by the 1800s, the windmills had many of the features of modern turbine blades. For information on planning a tour of the center or using the facility for community events, call Michael Sage at 989-269-5805.
