CASEVILLE - The Michigan Vietnam Veteran Traveling Memorial will be making a stop in Caseville Saturday. It is a Memorial to the Men and Women from Michigan who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.

It’s a message saying: “We Will Not Forget” those who did not come home from Southeast Asia and are listed as a Prisoner of War or Missing in Action. It is a place for those who have served to come together in remembrance of their fellow Soldier, Marine, Seaman, Airman, and Coast Guardsman. It is a place to honor those who have received the Flag as the words “on behalf of a proud and grateful nation,” have been spoken, according to web site of the Chapter #154 of the Vietnam Veterans of America, headquartered in the Charter Township of Clinton in Macomb County.

The memorial will be in the City Park, which is located at the corner of Main St./Port Austin Road (M-25) and Pine St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all are welcome. There is no charge to view the memorial, said Chapter Second Vice President and Traveling Memorial Chairman Dave Schoenherr.

Donations will be accepted, Schoenherr also said, to help defray expenses, which make this exhibit possible. There also will be merchandise for sale. Proceeds go to support veterans through activities such as operating a food pantry, making hospital visits and providing an honor guard for funerals. The organization is all volunteer, Schoenherr added.
