“Da Blooze Brothers - A Tribute to Jake and Elwood”

PIGEON - “Da Blooze Brothers - A Tribute to Jake and Elwood” come to the Pigeon Band Shell Stage with their own style of Blues music at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10 as part of the 2017 Summer Season.

“Everyone loves the cult-classic movie ‘The Blues Brothers’,” said Pigeon Band Shell Committee Chairman Neal B. Eichler. ‘“Da Blooze Brothers - A Tribute to Jake and Elwood’ honors that music and the zany antic of movie’s brothers.”

The famous movie is a classic tale of redemption for paroled convict Jake and his brother Elwood as they set out on “a mission from God” to save the Catholic orphanage in which they were raised from foreclosure.

“Our audience should be prepared for a hilarious evening of fun and music right out of the early 80s,” Eichler added.

To accomplish their Hollywood movie ‘mission,’ Jake and Elwood Blues must reunite their R&B band and organize a performance to earn $5,000 needed to pay the orphanage’s property tax bill.

“The movie is one of those you just gotta’ watch every now and then,” said Band Shell Committee Member Barb Main. “This band, ‘Da Blooze Brothers - A Tribute to Jake & Elwood’ is sure to please our audience.”

The Pigeon Band Shell is repeatedly voted the Upper Thumb area’s best outdoor location for entertainment. Funding for Pigeon Band Shell performances come from community donations, ticket sales and occasional grants from various arts councils. In the event of rain, concerts are moved to Laker High School Auditorium, 2.5 miles east of Pigeon on M-142.

Tickets for the concert are available online at pigeonbandshell.com and several outlets throughout the Thumb or by calling 1-800-292-0614.
