HURON COUNTY - In township proposals, Sherman voters approved the creation of their own planning commission rather than remaining a county zoned entity on a margin of just three voters 150-147. OTHER TOWNSHIP RESULTS

Sherman voters defeated the 2-mill Tax Rate Proposition I for roads (55% no), but approved the second measure of half of a mill for fire protection (60% yes).

While Dwight voters soundly approved renewing their 1-mill fire protection provision and the 2-mill road improvement provision, they denied the request for a 2-mill increase to road taxation on a margin of about 40% yes to 60% no.

In Meade, three out of four voters said yes to the 2-mill Road Construction Millage Renewal, and four out of five said yes to the 1-mill Fire Protection Renewal.

COUNTYWIDE

Countywide millage renewals for services to senior citizens and veterans and the one to operate TAT buses overwhelmingly passed with percentages of around 70-85 percent in favor.
