Huron County EDC announces regrants

HURON COUNTY - The Huron County EDC received funding as a regranting agency for Huron, Sanilac, St. Clair and Tuscola counties from Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). As a regranting agency, the Huron County EDC grants money out for mini grants and professional development projects in those counties. The applicants are registered non-profit organizations, schools, colleges/ universities and municipalities located in those four counties.

The applicants can apply for up to $4,000 for locally developed, high-quality arts and cultural projects, which are special opportunities to address local arts and cultural needs and increase public access to arts and culture. The deadline was Aug. 3 and the Huron County EDC awarded $14,000 in mini grants.

Round Two is open and deadline for Mini Grants and Professional Development Projects is Jan. 15, 2018.

2017 grant winners are:

HURON COUNTY

• Greater Port Austin Art & Placemaking Fund for their Detroit Institute of Art Inside Out Program - $1.800

• Grice House Heritage Association for their Pavilion Display - $1,500; Thumb Arts Guild for Art in the Park 2018 - $3,000

ST. CLAIR COUNTY

• Fort Gratiot Township for their Building Community with Tweens, Teens, Service and Art! - $2,200

• Immaculate Conception Catholic School for their Spring Musical - $3,000; and The KidSake Foundation for their Art Based Workshops - $2,500

“This is our opportunity to help support local, grass roots organizations provide arts and cultural affairs programming in the region,” said Huron County EDC Executive Director Carl Osentoski. “These funds allow the organizations involved leverage local dollars increasing the impact on our communities.”
