Unionville gets new electronic community sign

Courtesy photo Courtesy photo UNIONVILLE - The Village of Unionville has installed an electronic sign at the downtown corner of M-24 & M-25 in Kemp Memorial Park.

The new community sign was purchased and gifted to the Village of Unionville by Consumers Energy, according to Unionville Clerk Jessica A. VanHove.

Consumers Energy needed a more effective way to share safety messages and project information for the Cross Winds Energy Park construction happening in the gateway community to the Thumb, VanHove added.

It was agreed upon that the village is welcome to run its own messages on the board and will post any news from Consumers Energy concerning the project in the rotation of messages. The sign, installed by Sign Image, of Saginaw, will be owned, operated, maintained and repaired by the village.

This new sign replaces the old community sign managed by the Unionville Community Association and now the village will coordinate the messages although the village will keep the same rules and pricing for messaging in place.

To have messages placed on the sign, stop into the Village Office, 6454 Merry St., Unionville to fill out the form. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For further details, call the village office at 989-674-2244.
