HURON COUNTY - The Huron County Planning Commission elected Robert McLean as its chairman, Carl Duda as vice chair and Julie Epperson as secretary.

The board conducted its annual reorganization meeting on Wednesday, April 4.

During the meeting, commission member Dr. Robert Oakes of Harbor Beach resigned, opening a second vacancy on the planning board, following the recent resignation of Charles Bumhoffer of Sebewaing.

The Huron County Board of Commissioners was already looking to fill the open chair as the commissioners placed that item on its Tuesday, April 10 agenda with four candidates: Michael Lorencz, Brookfield Township, Bill McPhee, Hume Township, Bill Renn, Chandler Township, and Bob Tenbusch Ruth.

In other business, the planning commission heard about Pigeonbased Blue Diamond Steel Casting’s plan to add a 100-foot by 400-foot expansion onto an existing structure. The proposed addition was drawn at 50-foot high. The plans were sent to the county’s building and zoning department with variance contingencies.
