HURON COUNTY - The Huron County Board of Commissioners selected Robert Tenbusch, of Ruth, to serve on the county planning board. The commissioners also considered Michael Lorencz, Brookfield Township, Bill McPhee, Hume Township, and Bill Renn, Chandler Township to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Charles Bumhoffer, Sebewaing.

The successful vote for Tenbusch came on the fourth ballot with commissioners John Nugent, Dave Peruski, Ron Wruble and Chairman Sami Khoury voting in favor.

In other personnel business, the board hired Kellie Hiller as a full-time deputy clerk-assignment clerk for the 73B District Court at $29,656, effective Monday, April 23.

The board appointed Debbie Cunningham to the economic development corporation board for a six-year term.

The board authorized the clerk to advertise for vacancies with applications due in by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2: construction code board of appeals (2-year term); zoning board of appeals (2 at 3-year terms); and planning commission (3-year term).

In other matters, the board approved motions for the Huron County Road Commission to seek grant monies for bridge work on structures at Haist Road and at Notter Road over the Pigeon River. It was noted that the bridges are in Winsor Township.

Earlier, at the Committee of the Whole Meeting, Wruble told the board that the 2017 budget numbers are ‘pretty much finalized’ showing the county doing well and he offered that monies could go to offset retirement liabilities.
