Bad Axe Area District Library announces upcoming events

BAD AXE - The Bad Axe Area District Library announces upcoming events and the staff invites you to participate and here is what they say about the events:

• The Summer Reading Kick off Party will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday, June 18. Stop in to the library anytime between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to pick up information about the program. During the party, you can try your hand at making a musical instrument. This event is for toddlers, teens and adults. “Come and take part in the program!”

• The Adult Book Club will gather from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 20. This month’s selection for the Adult Book Club is “The Right Stuff,” by Tom Wolfe. Synopsis: The inner world of the early astronauts, John Glenn, Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom and their confreres, is what Tom Wolfe describes to us in “The Right Stuff.”

• Hand Jive, Jitterbug, Twist and more! Toddlers - kids - teens - and adults: Come and reminisce with your favorite dance moves or learn them for the first time during the Rock and Roll Dance Party from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 20. “We have the best instructor around!”

• Stories in the Park will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at Bad Axe City Park, next to the library. In case of rain, this event will take place in the library.

• See how the library works during the Libraries Rock Tour beginning at 2 p.m., Libraries Rock Tour beginning at 2 p.m., Monday, June 25. The staff says, “Come in and see how the library works. We will open all the spaces you usually do not see and you will learn their purpose. You can talk to the library workers and find out their jobs. Ask questions and figure us out.”

• Painting Rocks - to hide or keep. Come to the library to paint your own rock creations from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 26. “We will seal them for later pick up or to hide.”

• Hiding Rocks - Using the rocks that were painted on Tuesday, you hide your rocks and make clues to help others find them during the Scavenger Hunt from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, June 28! You can then use clues to find rocks hidden by other players! Then take your rocks home or re-hide them for others to find!
