Caseville Historical Society June 22 meeting notes

CASEVILLE - There were 31 members and three guests present at the Caseville Historical Society’s Thursday, June 21 meeting. President Joyce Miller said the group would celebrate the 25th anniversary of the society’s founding with a luncheon following the meeting and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the renovation of Maccabees Hall, which serves as the group’s museum. Harold Hoelzle read proclamations and letters of congratulations from the City of Caseville, the Huron County Historical Society and Michigan State Representative Canfield. The group will continue its celebration at the July meeting with a golf outing at the Caseville Key North Mini Golf Center following that meeting. Miller said the next “Zoom Video” will be on Wednesday, Aug. 8 on the history of the Detroit Tigers. Audrey Jesmore reported the recent Ladies Garden Luncheon was sold-out and well received. The featured speaker was Master Gardener Rosemarie Creguer, who discussed home gardening. Membership Committee Chairwoman Mary Taylor reported one new member, Kevin Cook. Rich Bass reported that he has scheduled the first oral history interview to take place: Bruce “Bud” McCormick, of Caseville, who will recall his early memories of Caseville and the local community.
