Pasties, July 7

CASEVILLE - The Helping Hands Thrift Shop and community volunteers will be make pasties Saturday, July 7 to celebrate the Fourth of July Holiday! Pre-order pasties, $6 each, by calling Carole at 989-544-1562; pick up that day from 10 a.m. to noon. Profits go to help those in need in the local Caseville area community.

Linda (Bucholtz) Evans Benefit, July 8

BAD AXE - An all-you-can-eat benefit pancake breakfast will be hosted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, July 8 at the Masonic Temple on Park Ave., Bad Axe. The event includes a silent auction and bake sale. Linda has stage 3 breast cancer. Her family includes husband, Jeff, children, Amy and Jeffery, as well as mother, Audrey Bucholtz, and siblings, Brenda Hurren and John Bucholtz. Thumb Breadbasket, July 14

PIGEON - A Thumb Breadbasket bi-monthly food distribution will be Saturday, July 14 at Laker Elementary School. Setup 7 a.m., distribution 8:30 a.m. until supplies gone or 10 a.m., cleanup 10 a.m. Bring bags or boxes to collect food and carry it. (Next: Sep. 15; Nov. 10.) Details: 989-414-0419.

Household hazardous waste collection rescheduled

HURON COUNTY - Freezing rain, icy roads and power outages canceled the April Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection. The new date is Saturday, July 14. To participate, register by Thursday, July 5 by calling the MSU-Extension Office, 989-269-9949. For those items that are accepted, residents will be required to pre-register and be assigned an appointment time to participate in the program. Some acceptable

items: automotive fluids, batteries, cleaners and polishes, smoke detectors, household cleaners, oil based paints, paint thinners, and weed killer. Unacceptable items: latex paint, commercial/ industrial waste, explosives and ammunition, tires and yard waste.

Scattered Souls of Pinnebog Reunion, July 15

OAK BEACH - The Scattered Souls of Pinnebog reunion committee invites all displaced Catholics to the Scattered Souls Reunion, Sunday, July 15, 10 a.m., with 11 a.m. Mass by former St. Felix pastor Fr. Joseph Schabel, and potluck to follow. Bring lawn chairs for the Mass and table service for potluck, with chicken and ham provided and the Felix Followers Youth Group selling pop and water. Harbor Beach Maritime Sunday Worship Service, July 15

HARBOR BEACH - “The Jacob Austin Band” will appear at the Harbor Beach Maritime Sunday Worship Service, Sunday, July 15. Rev. Connie Sassanella will be the guest speaker. The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

Cross VBS, July 16-19

PIGEON - “LEGO and LET GOD” is the theme for Cross Lutheran’s VBS. All children ages 3 and older are invited to attend July 16-19 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day. Organizers say the VBS will focus on builders in the Bible who learned that, like us, they needed to “LEGO and Let God” be in control of their lives! Mornings will center around building with LEGO , making LEGO mission projects, eating LEGO snacks, crafts, inflatables, barrel train rides and hearing Bible builder stories.
