CASS CITY — The first annual Greater Thumb Conference All- Star baseball game was held last weekend as part of the Cass City Freedom Festival.

As in most All-Star contests, the game itself it did not really matter. The game started late, due to a lack of umpires, and the game ended up being officiated by only one umpire, but it did not seem to matter as this game was about showcasing the talented seniors from around the Thumb, having fun and playing positions they did not normally play.

Bearcat Ryan Sweeney started the game on the mound for the east, while USA’s Brendan Prime got the nod for the west.

Each team had 10 players who were able to attend and play in the game.
