Seventh Annual Dylan Burton Invitational Cornhole Tournament news

The seventh annual Dylan Burton Invitational Cornhole Tournament was held Saturday, Aug. 4 at Grandpa Dave’s “Front Yard Bar & Grill.” The tournament started at noon with a blind draw for partners. Only nine teams competed this year in the double-elimination tournament, with medals being awarded to the top three teams and the first team eliminated. Receiving the first-place medal this year were Dan Burton and Jonna Cover - who also received a special crown made for her by Tara Reinke. Second-place honors went to Claire Burton and Doug Schave. Finishing in third place were Diane Reinke and Tony Sander. Special recognition was given to Doug Schave for making the first cornhole with the first toss of the tournament. The first double cornhole was made by 13-year-old Claire Burton. Dan Burton had the first triple cornhole of the tournament. Sympathies went to Laura Krajenka and Larry Finkel on being the first team eliminated. Other teams competing this year were Scott Cover and Jerry Lawrence, Shannon Popour and Dylan Burton, Dawn Lawrence and Dave Reinke, Eric Reinke and Ricky D, and Melody Burton and Donna Sander. Following the medal ceremony, a potluck meal was served with Grandpa Dave deep frying walleye and roasting corn over the open fire. The Tournament Director, 15-year-old Dylan Burton, thanked everyone who participated and said he hopes to see them all next year.
