Week Two football Game Summaries (8/30/18)

UBLY - The Bearcats rushed for 482 yards as they cruised to their first league of the young season. William Spicer led the Ubly ground attack as he totaled 135 rushing yards. Last weeks’ rushing leader, Ethan Lemke, was not far behind with 119 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Last week against USA, Lemke rushed for 156 yards and 3 TD’s, giving him a total of 275 yards and 5 TD’s for the season. Next week, Coach Jim Becker will take his team to Sandusky to battle the 2-0 Redskins in a very important league match up.

Marlette 20 - Harbor Beach 14 (Overtime)

MARLETTE - In what can only be called an upset win, the Red Raiders’ Dillen Cook scampered 10 yards for the winning score in overtime. Cook rushed for 156 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in the game. Harbor Beach’s quarterback, Michael Anderson, threw for 92 yards and a TD in the loss. Devin Finkel added 116 total yards and a touchdown for the Pirates.

EPBP Laker 54 - Reese 15

REESE - The Lakers had a total of 425 rushing yards with six different players carrying the ball for at least 40 yards each: Preston Warren once again led the rushing attack gaining 160 yards on 22 carries; Corey Manenti - 8 carries for 71 yards; Andrew Siegfried - 10 carries for 58 yards; James Dubs - 10 carries for 46 yards; Jared Reiter - 8 carries for 46 yards; and Sam Gasta - 6 carries for 44 yards. Dubs scored 3 touchdowns; Warren, Siegfried, Gasta, and Reiter each scored a touchdown in the Lakers’ victory.

USA 24 - Cass City 42

SEBEWAING - Sophomore quarterback Landin Zimmer completed 3 of 5 passes for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns. Both of Zimmer’s touchdowns came in the 2nd quarter: the first was a 29-yard pass to Nash Morton and the second was a 24-yard strike to Conner Gettel. In the Patriot running game, Gettel carried the ball 13 times for 130 yards.
