Pigeon District Library news

PIGEON — The Pigeon District Library announces some upcoming events.

The American Library Association says, “This September, Disney Pixar’s superhero family, the Incredibles, will team up with the association to promote the value of a library card. As honorary chairs, the Incredibles will remind families, students and people of all ages that signing up for a library card is a great step toward a truly super lifestyle: libraries offer fun and informative resources to help you pursue your passions and succeed in school.”

The Pigeon District Library is planning some activities, along with drawings, to be conducted for a variety of prizes for children and adults.

Lap-Sit and Story Hour are conducted every Tuesday morning. Lap-Sit is from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Story Hour is conducted from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Huron Area Writer’s Group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. Writers at all levels are invited to attend.

The Pigeon District Library Book Club hosts a monthly meeting on the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All readers are welcome. Call the library at 989-453-2341 to find out what the club is reading for the month.

The Pigeon District Library now has a newsletter that patrons can pick up at the library’s circulation desk or subscribe by email with a message to newsletterpdl@gmail.com.

The Pigeon District Library will be launching a new program for teens. The program will be launched during Teen Read Week, Oct. 7-13, for ages 13-19. While teens do not need a library card to participate in the events being planned, they will need a library card to check out library materials. For details, call the library at 989-453-2341.
