Key Players: Casey Sweeney, Isaac Warczinsky, and Ethan Lemke

Run down: The Bearcats are a young squad, with Lemke as their only senior. They have been competitive in most of their games this season with 6 of their losses being by 10 points or less. They have a tough draw in this district having to play an undefeated Unionville-Sebewaing in the first round.

Isaac Warczinsky

Head Coach Mark Gainforth

Record: 10-0 16-0 1st place in conference

Remaining regular season game: 2/22 Bad Axe

Key Players: Landin Zimmer, Tyler Heckroth, and Micah Cramer

Run down: USA has been consistent all season and is this season’s Greater Thumb Conference West Division Champion. The Patriots finish their regular season with a tough final conference game this Friday night when they host Bad Axe.

Their defense has been the key to their undefeated season. Expect the Patriots to advance to the district finals next Friday night.

Bad Axe Hatchets

Head Coach: Mark Krug

Record: 8-2 14-4 2nd place in the conference

Remaining Regular Season Game: 2/22 at USA

Key Players : Cody Talaski, Colby Meeks

Run Down: The Hatchets were undefeated in the league until they lost their first meeting with USA back on January 23rd. Then they suffered their worst loss of the season at the hands of the Reese Rockets 72-37. They have bounced back and will finish in second place in the conference. They finish their season against conference champs USA on Friday night and if both teams win their first two rounds of district play the two teams will meet for a third time in the finals.

Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers

Head Coach: Eric Wissner

Record: 3-7 8-8 5th in conference

Remaining regular season game: 2/22 vs Vassar

Key Players: Mason Pasek, Karson Binder, and Andrew Siegfried.

Run down: The Lakers started the season by winning 6 of their first 7 games and then promptly lost the next 5 games in a row. The Lakers could be the sleeper team of the tournament if they can find that formula that worked for them at the beginning of the season.

Harbor Beach Pirates

Head Coach: Ron Wruble

Record: 8-2 10-7 currently hold a 1/2 game lead over Capac for first place in the conference.

Landin Zimmer

Landin Zimmer

Remaining regular season games: 2/20 Capac 2/22 at Memphis

Key Players: Parker Jahn, Mason Jahn, and Devin Finkel

Run down: Harbor Beach has had a relatively easy time in the Greater Thumb Conference East Division, with key wins over Brown City and an overtime win over Capac on January 18. They have not fared as well in the crossover matches against teams from the west division, losing to Bad Axe, Reese, and USA. The Pirates have a first round bye and await the winner of the Ubly vs USA game on Wednesday night at 6pm.
