ANGELINE M. BURKHARD


 

 

1932-2021

Angeline M. Burkhard, age 88, of Bad Axe, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021 after a brief illness.

Angeline was born December 9, 1932 in Ruth, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Emming) Hessling. She married Harley Burkhard on September 5, 1953. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2003.

Angeline enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, going to the casino and crocheting afghans for her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Hubert Parish and volunteered at the church food pantry.

Angeline is survived by her children, Michael (Karen) Burkhard, Cindy (Clem) Maurer, Thomas Burkhard (Special friend Laura), Brenda (Terry) Kennedy, Pamela Rivard (Special friend Brent), Deborah Rogers (Special friend Tom), Harley (Kathy) Burkhard and Darlene (Joe) Candela; grandchildren, Tami (Randy) Gallager, Eric Burkhard, Kevin Maurer, Lauren (Danny) Ortega, Ryan Burkhard and fiancée Jeana, Justin Kennedy, Jennifer (Mike) Medwith, Joshua Kennedy and fiancée Kristle, Rebecca (Taran) Dhaliwal, Christopher (Courtney) Rivard, Jaclyn (Nathan) Counts, Matthew (Alyssa) Rogers, Katie Rogers, Christine, Jonathan & Harley J. Burkhard, and Joey & Delaney Candela; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Audrey (Kenneth) Wolschlager; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hessling, Emily Smith, Grace Burkhard, Beverly Forstner, Dorothy H. Burkhard, and Betty Burkhard; brothers-in-law, Dan Guigar and Alex Burkhard Jr.

Angeline was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia; two grandsons, Jason Maurer and Brian Burkhard; one granddaughter, Jessica Rogers; sons-in-law, Lawrence Rivard, Jr. and James Rogers; sisters, Elizabeth Landry, Margaret Volmering, Rose Sherman, Rita Ostrander, Theresa Durand and Beatrice Guigar; brothers, Clarence and Charles Hessling; daughter in-law,– Heather Burkhard; sisters-in-law, Esther Burkhard, Dorothy “Dottie” Burkhard, Grace M. Burkhard, Donna Burkhard, Elaine LaBelle, Bernice Burkhard, and Janet Hessling; brothers-in-law, Roland Burkhard, Leslie Burkhard, Edwin Burkhard, Harold Burkhard, Delbert Burkhard, Robert Burkhard, Glenn Forstner, and Jim Smith.

Memorial donations may be offered to St. Jude’s Hospital.

A private funeral will be held. A celebration of Angeline’s life will be held in the spring.
