Caseville Historical Society Nov. 15 meeting notes


CASEVILLE – President Joyce Miller called the Caseville Historical Society Nov. 15 meeting to order, with 15 members and 1 guest present, and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The treasurer’s report and the previous meeting minutes were presented, reviewed and approved.

The next free Zoom Video: “Riding the Rails: The Pere Marquette 1225 Locomotive,” and how it became the model for the Polar Express, will be shown on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.; attendees are invited to participate in the 5:30 p.m. potluck dinner.

Janet Ekel gave an update on the new, planned exhibit featuring the child’s bedroom featured in the book “Goodnight Moon.” by Memorial Weekend. Items needed: child’s brush and comb, old telephone, old fireplace tools, children’s mittens, two stuffed kittens, a mantel clock and pendulum clock.

Laurie Cook showed attendees what she could offer at a ceramics class planned for January.

Membership Committee Chairwoman Mary Taylor announced new members: Francis Larremore and Amy and Gregg Motter.

The Huron County Historical Society will host its Christmas Luncheon, Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Huron County Senior Center, 150 Nugent Road, Bad Axe, with speaker Stacy Tchorzynski on “Sanilac Petroglyphs,” $15 per person. Details: 989-712-0050.
