SEBEWAING – Taylor Alderson, a seventh-grade student at Christ the King Lutheran School, Sebewaing, won his school’s 2019 Geography Bee on Thursday, Jan. 17. This school-level Bee, at which students answered oral and written questions on geography, was the second round in the 31st annual National Geographic Bee, which is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Taylor will now take a written test that may qualify him to compete in the state Geography Bee later in 2019. Completing the Geography Bee as runner-up was 6th Grader Parker Ritchey. The other finalists who competed in Christ the King’s school geography bee were Grade 4 Evan Foley, Peityn Nitzh; Grade 5 McKenna Kemp, Maddison Urban; Grade 6 Dalton Anderson; Grade 7 Rachel Sattelberg and Grade 8 Kelsey Nitz and Gabriella Reinbold. The National Geographic Society will provide an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the state winners to participate in the National Geographic Bee, May 19-22.
