Pinktober fundraiser

UPPER THUMB – Join Thumb Cellular in raising breast cancer awareness by getting a pink hair extension at your local Thumb Cellular office, from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 3. Locations are in Bad Axe, Caro, Pigeon and Sandusky.

A hair stylist will add color to your hair for a $15 donation. Proceeds will go to Karmanos at McLaren Thumb Region.

Food trucks will also be available at each location around the lunch hour until 5 p.m.

Casino bus trip set

HURON COUNTY – The Kinde Seniors are sponsoring its monthly, one-day chartered bus trip to the Soaring Eagle Casino, in Mount Pleasant, Oct. 27.

The cost is $45 per person and you receive a payback of up to $60.

Quilt Guild to meet

PIGEON – Beginning in August, The Thumb Area Quilt Guild’s monthly meeting has been held in the community room at 2:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month at the Pigeon Library. Note that this is a change in location and time.

There is a brief meeting followed by show and tell. Quilters of all skill levels are welcome to attend.

Classical Guitar Concert Oct. 1

PORT HOPE – A William Henry Russell Classical Guitar Concert will take place 7-8:30 p.m. Sat., Oct. 1, at St. John Lutheran School, 7885 State St., Port Hope, by freewill offering.

Tip of the Thumb Dancers

BAD AXE – The Tip of the Thumb Dancers will host a dance, 7-10 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Huron County Senior Center, 150 Nugent Road., in Bad Axe.

Elkton Prayer Fellowship

ELKTON – Elkton Prayer Fellowship will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 12, starting with a light breakfast, at the Elkton Missionary Church,

Jeff and Judy Kramer will be sharing. Jeff is the Director of Development for Men of Purpose, which operates Men’s and Women’s Encounters in Michigan, Alabama, Texas, Nevada, California and Tennessee. He has recently started a nonprofit group, called A Fathers Love, which owns and operates four Michigan sober living homes, designed to give men and women coming out of rehab, a chance to rebuild their lives in a safe, sober and loving environment. Judy also works for Men of Purpose as the National Administration Coordinator and helps lead local Women’s Encounters.

Jeff and Judy have a heart to see restoration for the lost and broken. Through their own journey of pain and destruction, they’ve learned there’s nothing that can’t be redeemed when Jesus is at the center of your life. Jeff and Judy are blessed with six children from ages 3 to 15, whom they homeschool and also minister with.

Come and be blessed by Jeff and Judy sharing this powerful testimony of surrender, forgiveness and God’s amazing grace. All are invited to join for a time of praise and worship and Bible Study.

BAD AXE – We the County meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at The Franklin Inn in Bad Axe.

We The County is a movement uniting small businesses, patriots and churches within each county to stand together as one voice. We support the original intent of our Founding Fathers in the understanding and interpretation of our Constitution.

HURON COUNTY – Here are the upcoming pop-up food pantries that will be available in the county:

• 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at Lakers Elementary School, 6436 Pigeon Road, Pigeon, MI 48755.

Apple pie fundraiser

KINDE – North Huron Schools are having an apple pie fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, with pick-up at the school cafeteria.

Fresh, homemade pies are $15 each, with the money going toward student trips, activities and assemblies. Please make checks payable to North Huron Schools. Order forms are due by Thursday, Sept. 29.

VFW Euchre tourney

HARBOR BEACH – A Euchre tournament hosted by the Harbor Beach VFW is set for 1 p.m. Oct. 16 at the VFW, located on M-25 and Jenks Road, across from Rock Fall Cemetery.

Scary fun at Columbia Twp. Library

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP – From 5-7 p.m. Mon., Oct. 17, Columbia Township Library will host a Psychic Fair, pricing and style dependent upon psychic reader, starting at $20 each.

At 7 p.m. there will be a paranormal presentation with Tri-City Ghost Hunters Society and author of “Haunted Bay City, Michigan,” Nicole Beauchamp. Book sales and signing available. Info: 989-674-2651.

Pancake breakfast

PIGEON – A pancake breakfast has been scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Cross Lutheran School, 200 Ruppert St., in Pigeon.

Come and enjoy an all-you-can-eat meal of pancakes with a variety of toppings, scrambled eggs, eggs to order, sausage, cheesy potatoes, applesauce and beverages. Baked good will also be available to purchase.

Cost is $12/adults, $6/ children 12 and under, children under the age of 5 are free. Proceeds go to support Cross Lutheran School.
