Food distribution set

PIGEON – The Thumb Breadbasket food distribution is this Saturday, Oct. 8 at Lakers Elementary. It will run from 10 a.m.-noon, or when food is gone.

ID theft presentation

SEBEWAING – There will be an ID theft presentation at 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 9 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 800 E. Bay St., Sebewaing. The presentation will be hosted by the Older Adults Ministry.

The public is invited.

Rosary Rally

BAD AXE – A Rosary Rally will be conducted noon, Sat., Oct. 15 at on the steps of the Huron County Building, 250 E. Huron Ave. (M-142), Bad Axe.

Please join us to pray for world peace and the upcoming election on Nov. 8. The rally is in honor of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.

Coats for Kids

CASEVILLE – Coats for Kids will be available 10 a.m.-noon for those in need on the following Saturdays: Oct. 8, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 at the First United Methodist Church, in Caseville; and the St. Francis Borgia Hall, in Pigeon.

Casino bus trip set

HURON COUNTY – The Kinde Seniors are sponsoring its monthly, one-day chartered bus trip to the Soaring Eagle Casino, in Mount Pleasant, Oct. 27.

The cost is $45 per person and you receive a payback of up to $60.

Elkton Prayer Fellowship

ELKTON – Elkton Prayer Fellowship will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 12, starting with a light breakfast, at the Elkton Missionary Church, 220 N. Main St., in Elkton.

Jeff and Judy Kramer will be sharing. All are invited to join for a time of praise and worship and Bible Study.

Thumb Dance for Oct.

SANDUSKY – The Thumb Dance is scheduled for 4-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 27 at the Knights of Columbus, 127 Wedge Road, Sandusky.

HARBOR BEACH – A blood drive is scheduled from noon- 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Harbor Beach American Legion Hall, 47 Trescott St.

Bad Axe Seniors to meet

BAD AXE – For a pleasant way to spend an afternoon as well as enjoy a great meal, join the Bad Axe Seniors at noon on the second Wednesday of each month at the Senior Center, located at 150 Nugent Road, in Bad Axe.

Make some new friends, reconnect with old friends, and simply have some fun. Maybe make a little money winning at Bingo too.

U&I meeting held

PORT AUSTIN – The Sept. 28 U&I meeting came to order with Mary Ruth leading the members in the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Dinner was served by Gayl Volmering Catering.

Share the wealth winners were: Danial Polega, Darlene Legault, Jo Goretski, Connie Graham, Greg Ruth, Ken Firmanty, Nancy Moore, Janet Zuby and Marge Craig.

The meeting adjourned and euchre followed. The euchre winners were: 1st place-Al Yaroch; 2nd place-Marion Chaplinski, and 3rd place- Janet Zuby.

The next meeting is Oct. 26 and is open to the public. Individuals aged 18 and older who wish to join the U&I should stop in or call 989- 738-5080.

BAD AXE – We the County meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at The Franklin Inn in Bad Axe.

HURON COUNTY – Here are the upcoming pop-up food pantries that will be available in the county:

Apple pie fundraiser

KINDE – North Huron Schools are having an apple pie fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, with pick-up at the school cafeteria.

Fresh, homemade pies are $15 each, with the money going toward student trips, activities and assemblies. Please make checks payable to North Huron Schools. Order forms are due by Thursday, Sept. 29.

VFW Euchre tourney

HARBOR BEACH – A Euchre tournament hosted by the Harbor Beach VFW is set for 1 p.m. Oct. 16 at the VFW, located on M-25 and Jenks Road, across from Rock Fall Cemetery.

Scary fun at Columbia Twi. Library

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP – From 5-7 p.m. Mon., Oct. 17, Columbia Township Library will host a Psychic Fair, pricing and style dependent upon psychic reader, starting at $20 each.
