Bowling event scheduled

BAD AXE – Peer 360 Recovery Alliance will be hosting a free and family-friendly bowling bash from 4-7 p.m. March 5 at Longshot Lanes, 845 N. Van Dyke Road, in Bad Axe.

Pizza and pop will be provided and there will be free drawings and gift cards.

Bad Axe Library movie night

BAD AXE – The Bad Axe Area District Library shows a free family movie at 11 a.m. every other Saturday of each month.

The movie for March 5 will be Clifford the Big Red Dog. The movie for March 19 will be Boss Baby: Family Business.


Tip of Thumb dance

BAD AXE – The Tip of the Thumb Dancers will be having its dance 7-10 p.m. March 5, at the Senior Center, 150 Nugent Road in Bad Axe.

Cover charge is $6/person. Cancellations will be announced on WLEW and WMIC.

Bring finger food and friends. All ages are welcome.

Community invited to family fun night

OWENDALE – Owendale-Gagetown schools are inviting the community to a family fun night, scheduled for 5-7 p.m. March 16 at the school, located at 7166 E. Main St. in Owendale.

All community members will be welcome to come, and parent attendance is required. The free, indoor camping-themed event will include games, snacks, food, crafts, family pictures, reading areas, books, camper dress-up competition, prizes, and a short movie.

K of C euchre tournament

HARBOR BEACH – A Knights of Columbus euchre tournament is scheduled for March 5 at Helena Hall, located at 8233 Helena Road, Harbor Beach. Lunch will begin at noon, with cards starting at 1 p.m.

The event costs $30 per person and is open to the first 100 entrants. It is a fundraising event for the Knights of Columbus #11432.

March Elkton Prayer Fellowship

ELKTON – The Elkton Prayer Fellowship will meet 9:30 a.m. March 9, at the Elkton Missionary Church,

Judy Willett, founder of Prayer Fellowship, will be the speaker. Her topic will be, “Compassion, the heart of Jesus.”

Everyone is invited to join for a time of praise and worship and Bible study.


CTK school fair and open house

UNIONVILLE/SEBEWAING – Christ the King Lutheran School will be hosting its Academic Fair & Community Open House on Wednesday, March 23 at its campuses in Unionville and Sebewaing.

The schedule is as follows:

Unionville Campus, 6351 Center Street, for preschool through grade 1: 3-7 p.m. Academic Fair the gym and Community Open House. A 7 p.m. Lenten Worship, St. Paul.

Sebewaing Campus, 612 E. Bay St., for grades 2-8: 3-7 p.m. Academic Fair in gym and Community Open House. A 4:30 p.m. Meager Meal, Immanuel Great Room and 5:30 p.m. Lenten Worship, Immanuel.


Arlene Regentin 100th birthday open house

UBLY – Ubly resident Arlene Regentin will be 100 years old on March 4, 2022. Regentin’s family is inviting anyone interested in attending, come and join in on the celebration.

An open house in her honor will take place 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Ubly Foxhunters Club.

BSM dinner

PORT AUSTIN – The Blue Star Mothers will be hosting a dinner 5-7 p.m. March 16 at the Port Austin American Legion Post #499, 8875 Hellems Road, Port Austin.

Take out or dine in. Shepherd’s Pie dinner, coleslaw, Jell-O, rolls and homemade desserts.

Adults $12. Kids under 12 $4. All proceeds go to troop and veteran projects.


Right to Life annual dinner

BAD AXE – The Huron County Right to Life is holding its Annual Benefit Dinner on March 17, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1038 S. Van Dyke Road, in Bad Axe. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 7 p.m.

Dan Compton is the special guest speaker at the event. Compton was born through the hands of one of the deadliest abortionists in American history. Despite receiving the gift of life and loving parents through adoption, he rejected his family values as a teenager and walked a path that led to alcoholism, drug abuse, and unplanned pregnancy. At the very edge of choosing death, he experienced a powerful transformation in which his life was radically changed.

Tickets for the event $10/student, $20/individual and $160/table of eight. Tickets will be waiting for you at the door the day of the event.

Vintage fashion show

RUTH – A Vintage Vignettes of Fashion and History and Luncheon will be presented by Holy Apostles Parish, sponsored by the Christian Mothers and Women. The event will take place at noon April 2 at the K of C Hall in Ruth.

Attendees will be taken back to the 1930s, 40s and 50s and examine home life, world events and how that influenced fashion. Plated lunch includes chicken salad croissant, side salads, mixed berry cheesecake and a beverage.
