Longtime banker to retire from Northstar Bank

HURON COUNTY – Ernie Paulick, Vice President/Special Assets at Northstar Bank, has announced his plans to retire at the end of April.

Paulick has been with Northstar Bank for 17 years and been in the banking industry for 52 years. He has a very diverse background within the community bank environment and financial services industry.

His career began in 1969 as a National Bank Examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Detroit. In 1978, he became a Regional Director of Human Resources for the Seventh National Bank Region for the Office of the Currency in Chicago. In 1979, he became Vice President/Credit Administrator for the State Bank of Fraser.

In 1984, Paulick worked as the Executive Vice President/Credit Administration/Senior Lender for Signature Bank in Bad Axe. In 2001 he was a Principal for Rowan Tree, LLC in Bad Axe. In 2003, he became Senior Vice President/ Senior Lender for First National Bank of Gaylord. In 2004, Paulick joined Northstar Bank as a Credit Administrator. He was promoted in 2007 to Vice President and moved up to the Vice President/Special Assets in 2010.

“I owe a great deal to the staff and shareholders of Northstar Bank. I appreciate the opportunities I have had at the bank and I can look back with some pride at the growth of the bank, and the rewarding personal relationships I have formed,” said Paulick. “I will miss working on the variety of challenges I was given, but most of all I will miss the dayto day contact with the Northstar people with whom I have had a close relationship over the past decade.”

Paulick’s leadership in local community organizations includes serving on the boards or councils of Bad Axe Rotary Club, where he was made the Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of his service to Rotary. Rotary also made him a Hero of Rotary.

Other organizations

Paulick served on include the Saginaw Valley State University Foundation, Saginaw Valley State University Board of Fellows, Saginaw Valley State University Advisory Board to the School of Business & Management Cardinal Club, Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum, St. Andrews Society of Detroit and Ubly Foxhunters Club.

He is an honorary alumni at Saginaw Valley State University and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award with the university.

He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bad Axe.

He was also a member of the Independent Community Bankers of America Regulatory Review Committee, past chairman of the Michigan Bankers Association Compliance Committee and a past member of the Michigan Bankers Association’s Perry School of Banking Board of Directors.

He can often be found grilling at various charity events throughout the area.
